Zoe Leonard Departs Hauser & Wirth for New York’s Maxwell Graham Gallery

Zoe Leonard, a celebrated conceptual artist whose work will appear at the Venice Biennale next week, has left Hauser & Wirth—a global gallery with 14 locations—to join Maxwell Graham, a smaller New York-based gallery known for spare conceptual presentations. Leonard will continue to be represented by her longtime galleries, Cologne’s Galeria Gisela Capitain and Milan’s Raffaella Cortese. Maxwell Graham staged its first Leonard exhibition last year with “Display,” featuring photographs of historical objects in museums. Leonard is the second artist to depart Hauser & Wirth in the past year, following George Condo’s exit in November.

Frieze has announced the launch of Frieze House Seoul, a year-round exhibition and project space in the Yaksu-dong neighborhood, set to open alongside the fourth edition of Frieze Seoul from September 3 to 6, 2025. Housed in a four-story building dating from 1988, the venue will host short-term gallery residencies, special projects, and curated exhibitions beyond the fair dates, and features a permanent site-specific installation by SANAA founders Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa. The news comes as Frieze works to extend its five-year partnership with Kiaf, the fair run by the Galleries Association of Korea, which began in 2022 and is set to expire in 2026.

Dream fulfilled with art gallery opening

Dunedin visual artist Ana Teofilo has opened a new gallery and studio on Prince Albert Rd in South Dunedin, the area where she grew up. The space, named after the artist, features her works including the piece "Lanu Musika" ("colour music"), a 72-panel installation created during her art school years that had been in storage until now. Teofilo plans to hold carving workshops and use the space to promote her own work and that of other Pasifika creatives.
