Highlights include 'A Bestiary of Ancient Nubia' at the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures, 'Beyond Boundaries: Three Decades of Contemporary Chinese Art' and 'Composing Color: Paintings by Alma Thomas' at the Smart Museum of Art, the photography exhibition 'Black Culture in Chicago' at the Logan Center, and 'History on the Edges: Michel-Rolph Trouillot’s Caribbean' at the Regenstein Library.

Warhol Foundation supports UK Art Museum research on pioneering photographers

The University of Kentucky Art Museum has received a $38,000 Curatorial Research Fellowship Grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The grant will fund research on two African American photographers, Maurice W. Strider and William S. Dotson, who documented the Civil Rights Movement in Lexington during the mid-twentieth century. Curator Rachel Hooper will lead the research for a planned 2029 exhibition.

Point of Contact Marks 50 Years With Landmark Exhibition

Point of Contact (POC), a Syracuse-based organization founded in 1975, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a landmark exhibition titled “50 Sin Cuenta,” featuring over 100 works of contemporary Latin American art from its permanent collection. The exhibition opens September 19 at the newly renovated Warehouse Gallery at the Nancy Cantor Warehouse in downtown Syracuse, with works by artists including Luis Felipe Noé, Liliana Porter, Arnaldo Roche, and Víctor Vázquez. The show runs through October 24 and is free to the public.
