The Flaten Art Museum at St. Olaf College is presenting "Gateway to Himalayan Art," a traveling exhibition from the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art that introduces the forms, concepts, and traditions of Himalayan art and cultures. The exhibition features objects from the Rubin Museum's collection along with multimedia elements from its educational initiative, Project Himalayan Art, and will be on view from September 12 to December 7, 2025. A companion exhibition, "Tashi Delek, Minnesota! (Auspicious Blessings, Minnesota!)," curated by Thor Anderson and Karil Kucera with the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota, will run concurrently, highlighting the public life of Tibetan Minnesotans through photographs and videos.

Let’s Talk: Oles curate art exhibition for conversation

St. Olaf College students have curated the exhibition 'Let's Talk: Collection Conversations' at the Flaten Art Museum, featuring over a dozen works from the museum's collection. The show, open from February 13 to April 12, is the result of a two-semester, student-led curatorial model where a fall class selected the artworks and a spring class will activate the gallery with dialogue sessions to gather community feedback.

‘I Can’t Draw’ exhibition highlights community art

The ninth annual UPRISING art exhibition at St. Olaf College, titled 'I Can’t Draw,' confronts anxiety around art-making by creating a judgment-free, communal space for creating art together. The student-curated show features works like 'Self-Acceptance Is My Oasis of Serenity' and invites visitors to contribute live drawings to evolving pieces, dissolving the boundary between artist and audience. Founded in 2018 by Shaquille Brown, UPRISING celebrates Black history, culture, and identity through visual and performing arts.
