London’s cultural landscape sees a significant surge of activity this April with a diverse array of exhibitions spanning major institutions and commercial galleries. Key highlights include a recreation of Keith Haring’s 1980s subway chalk drawings at the Moco Museum, a retrospective of surrealist couturier Elsa Schiaparelli at the V&A, and a deep dive into the sculptural legacy of Guyanese-British artist Donald Locke at Camden Art Centre.
Miami Art Week 2025 features three interrelated fairs—Art Miami, Context Art Miami, and Aqua Art Miami—running from December 2–7. Art Miami, celebrating its 35th year at One Herald Plaza, hosts over 160 galleries from 24 countries with blue-chip and emerging works, including a never-before-seen Alex Katz piece and Keith Haring's Subway Drawings. Context Art Miami returns for its 13th edition as a platform for emerging and mid-career artists with nearly 70 galleries, while Aqua Art Miami on Miami Beach transforms the Aqua Hotel into an intimate fair space for its 19th year.
A collection of rare Keith Haring artworks, gifted to his childhood friend Kermit Oswald over nearly three decades, is coming to auction at Sotheby’s Breuer Building in May 2025. The trove includes a self-portrait from 1985 (estimated at $3–5 million), a painted crib and dresser ($250,000–350,000), a carved wood sculpture from 1983 (up to $800,000), and other early works on wood, fabric, and paper. These pieces trace Haring’s artistic evolution before his subway drawings and international fame, and were kept by Oswald, who was Haring’s best friend since kindergarten and later installed his shows.
This week's Metro Detroit events guide highlights several art exhibitions and cultural happenings from April 23–30. The Elaine L. Jacob Gallery at Wayne State University presents 'Keith Haring: Subway Drawings' (April 17–August 15), featuring 25 drawings created by Haring between 1980 and 1985. Wayne State also hosts its 2026 Undergraduate Art Exhibition (April 24–May 8) showcasing student work in fine arts, art history, and design, with an opening reception on April 24.
