This Austin Art Show Is the Mirror America Needs Right Now

Artists Autumn Mae and Chris Tobar have launched a collaborative exhibition titled 'The Neon Republic' at The Cathedral in Austin, Texas. The show features Mae’s resin and mirror-based works that deconstruct American iconography alongside Tobar’s 'The Neon Rodeo,' an immersive installation exploring Afro-Latino cowboy culture. A central feature of the exhibition is K-RDEO 88.8 FM, a pirate radio station broadcasting live from within the gallery space to provide a sonic layer to the visual narrative.

Cathedral to exhibit 80m long knitted WW2 artwork

Lichfield Cathedral will host an expansive 80-meter-long knitted and crocheted installation titled "The Longest Yarn 2: Britain at War" throughout May 2026. Created by a global community of makers, the textile artwork depicts various facets of British life during World War II, ranging from the declaration of war in 1939 to the celebrations of VE Day in 1945, including scenes of evacuation and rationing.

The French government has authorized the removal and replacement of the 19th-century stained-glass windows designed by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc in Notre-Dame Cathedral with new windows by contemporary artist Claire Tabouret. This decision, posted as a work permit on the cathedral, is being challenged in court by the heritage association Sites & Monuments, which argues the replacement is not a legitimate act of conservation or restoration.

The cathedral of Burgos in Spain is hosting "Picasso: Biblical Roots," the first-ever exhibition of Pablo Picasso’s work to be held within a cathedral setting. Featuring 44 works, the show explores how the artist’s Catholic upbringing and religious iconography influenced his oeuvre, despite his self-proclaimed atheism. The exhibition includes early devotional paintings, Renaissance-inspired depictions of the Crucifixion, and secular adaptations of the Virgin and Child and the Good Shepherd.
