New York Art Week 2026 brings a major convergence of art events across the city, including several prominent art fairs such as Frieze New York, Independent New York, TEFAF New York, and NADA New York. The week also features gallery openings spanning from Tribeca to the Upper East Side, as well as auction previews ahead of key sales at Sotheby’s, Christie’s, and Phillips.
Painter Allison Katz, who lived in New York for seven years but hasn't shown in Manhattan for over a decade, returns with a major debut solo exhibition at Hauser & Wirth's Wooster Street location. Titled "Outta the Bag," the show features a suite of New York–centric paintings, including depictions of the city's museums and skyscrapers, as well as an ironically small "Big Apple" composition, marking a significant moment for the mid-career artist.
Fondazione Marconi and Gió Marconi present 'Man Ray: M for Dictionary,' a comprehensive survey of Man Ray's work organized around his linguistic experiments. The exhibition, marking the fiftieth anniversary of the artist's death, is curated by Yuval Etgar and Deborah D’Ippolito and spans photography, painting, sculpture, and drawing. It includes a second display titled 'In Other Words' featuring contemporary artists Alex Da Corte, Simon Fujiwara, Wade Guyton, Allison Katz, and Tai Shani, whose work engages with language in visual art.
