Timeless Meets Timely at TEFAF New York 2026

TEFAF New York returns to the Park Avenue Armory from May 15–19, 2026, with an invitation-only preview on May 14. The fair features 88 international exhibitors from 14 countries across four continents, showcasing a wide range of collecting categories including art, antiquities, design, and jewelry. Highlights include a new abstract canvas by Minjung Kim, a glass mosaic by Shahzia Sikander, ancient Egyptian and Roman works, and pieces by modern masters such as Jean Dubuffet, Martin Kippenberger, Pierre Soulages, Barbara Hepworth, John Chamberlain, and Cecily Brown.

Met Museum show at new Costume Institute puts fashion in same spotlight as Egyptian artefacts

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute has opened its spring exhibition 'Costume Art' in a new 12,000-square-foot space called the Condé M Nast Galleries, located off the museum's Great Hall. The show pairs 200 garments and accessories with 200 artworks from the Met's collection, organized into 13 thematic body types such as Naked and Nude, Abstracted Body, Corpulent Body, Disabled Body, and Mortal Body. Lead curator Andrew Bolton aims to challenge traditional hierarchies by placing fashion on equal footing with fine art. The exhibition's launch is overshadowed by controversy over sponsorship by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos for the Met Gala.

Al Museo Egizio di Torino ora c’è un centro di ricerca per studiare la scrittura dell’Antico Egitto attraverso tremila anni di storia

The Museo Egizio di Torino has launched ME-Scripta, a new research center dedicated to the study, restoration, and digitization of ancient Egyptian written sources, including papyri, ostraca, and Coptic bindings. Funded by a €3 million grant from the Fondazione CRT, the center will operate under the direction of Susanne Töpfer and employ a dedicated team of curators, collaborators, a data manager, and an apprentice. ME-Scripta will pursue three major projects: reassembling and studying papyri from Assiut and Gebelein, analyzing ostraca, and restoring 17 Coptic bindings, with a goal of launching an integrated digital platform by 2034.
