Two fabulous art exhibitions opening in Mayo this month

Custom House Studios + Gallery in Westport, County Mayo, is presenting two art exhibitions opening July 24, 2025: a solo show by artist Sarah Wren Wilson and a group exhibition titled 'InHouse25'. Wilson's exhibition features abstract paintings that explore psychological space, perception, and the interplay between inner and outer worlds, using motifs like nets and the color blue to create an immersive, liminal experience. The exhibitions are supported by The Arts Council, Mayo County Council, and Pobal, and will run through August 17.

The Clay Studio in Philadelphia has opened a new exhibition titled "Clay as Care: Ceramic Art and Wellbeing," which explores the therapeutic and restorative benefits of working with ceramics. The show features four artists—Adebunmi Gbadebo, Jennifer Ling Datchuk, Ehren Tool, and Maia Chao—each using clay to address personal healing journeys, from fertility struggles to military trauma. The exhibition includes interactive elements like communal clay for visitors and is part of a research project in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania Center for Neuroaesthetics, Jefferson University Art Therapy Department, and Drexel University Art Psychotherapy team, collecting data on the show's impact on wellness.

Fermanagh-born artist Rachael Johnson is set to debut her solo exhibition, "Pareidolia," at the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh. Running from May 1 to May 30, the show features a collection of mixed-media works that utilize paint, ink, charcoal, and organic materials to explore the psychological phenomenon of finding meaning in random patterns. The exhibition serves as a retrospective of sorts, blending new creations with selected pieces from her diverse career.
