Santa Monica Events: New Art Gallery, Kids Club & More

Santa Monica is launching its first-ever municipal art gallery at the Bergamot Station Arts Center, debuting with the inaugural exhibition "Case Study: Adapt." The opening ceremony on April 10 will feature remarks from California for the Arts Executive Director Julie Baker and a commendation for State Senator Ben Allen in recognition of Arts Month. The launch is part of a broader weekend of community programming including the Venice Street Fair and sound art workshops at the Camera Obscura Art Lab.

33 artists showcase art from the heart

The 5th Inspired Fine Art Exhibition, themed “Kita 2.0”, is being held from September 5-21 at Capital Fine Art Gallery in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Curated by Inspired Fine Art Studio and Capital Fine Art Gallery, the show features 140 works by 33 artists from Malaysia, South Africa, China, and Hong Kong, including watercolour, oil, acrylic, sculpture, and mixed media pieces. Most works are for sale, and weekend art workshops for adults and children are scheduled for September 13-14 and 20-21. The exhibition will be officially launched on September 12 by Zulkifli Hashim, director-general of Malaysia's National Unity and Integration Department.

The Night of the Museums will take place in Tampere, Finland, on Saturday, May 16, featuring over 40 exhibitions across multiple venues including the Tampere Art Museum, Sara Hildén Art Museum, Museum Centre Vapriikki, Moomin Museum, Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, and others. The event offers special guided tours, children's activities with clowns and circus performances, art workshops led by visual artists, live music and poetry, dance lessons, and themed tours covering topics from football history to men's fashion.

Workshop exhibition opens at AKM

The Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) in Istanbul has launched an exhibition featuring 41 works by 21 artists produced during the fourth Arnica Art Land workshop. Held in the ancient city of Aizanoi, the multidisciplinary project encouraged artists to create works inspired by the Temple of Zeus and the world’s first stock exchange. The resulting show, curated by Fırat Neziroğlu, includes experimental practices such as sound sculptures and live body painting alongside traditional plastic arts.

The Orange Community Art Guild (OCAG), a nonprofit founded in October 2024 by Britt Samuels, has established a growing network for local artists in Old Towne Orange. By partnering with local businesses like Wine and Wax and Cafe Zocalo, the guild provides exhibition spaces for creators and reinvests its profits into community initiatives, including youth art workshops. Upcoming projects include a photography exhibition by Orlando Suero at Citrus City Grille and a book release event featuring Prince’s long-time art director, Steve Parke.
