Two trustees of the prestigious Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Alexander Maxwell Djerassi and Michael Molesky, were identified in recently released Department of Justice files as visitors to Jeffrey Epstein’s private island in 2011. The pair attended the "Mindshift Conference," a gathering of academics and professionals held two years after Epstein’s first conviction. The residency program, located in California's Santa Cruz Mountains, clarified that the visit occurred years before either individual joined the board and emphasized that neither Epstein nor Ghislaine Maxwell ever had any formal ties or donor history with the institution.

Cosanti Originals Debuts New Artist Exhibition

Mesa-based artist Talia Dudley has unveiled her latest solo exhibition, “SHROUD,” at the Cosanti Originals Gallery in Paradise Valley. The collection features large-scale paintings, some measuring up to 80 by 60 inches, which were developed during Dudley’s recent artist residency at Arcosanti. The works utilize gestural strokes and heavy layering to explore the "architecture of the unconscious," drawing direct inspiration from the unique structural environment and hidden spaces of the Arcosanti site.

British artist Lucy Orta has unveiled a site-specific installation titled "Trame di Comunità" at CasermArcheologica in Sansepolcro, Tuscany, following an artist residency. The work features five tents constructed from hand-woven vintage linen and hemp, inspired by the protective imagery in Piero della Francesca’s "Polyptych of Mercy." These structures are embroidered with the faces of local residents and adorned with 99 terracotta amulets, incorporating oral testimonies and personal reflections gathered from the community during Orta's stay.

Cactus Club 'In the Clouds' Artist Residency Applications Now Open

Cactus Plus, the nonprofit arm of Milwaukee’s Cactus Club, has opened applications for the second year of its "In the Clouds" artist residency. The program offers three selected artists—one virtual and two in-person—a $1,500 stipend to support their practice between June 22 and 26, 2026. Designed with a focus on accessibility, the residency specifically prioritizes disabled, neurodivergent, and chronically ill creators across all artistic mediums, requiring a community event and an artist talk rather than the production of new physical work.

UCF Alum and Fulbright scholar Mär Martinez exhibition in Maitland, FL

Contemporary painter Mär Martinez, a Fulbright scholar and UCF alum, presents her first solo museum exhibition, “A loom, a fence, a wire, a thread,” at the Art & History Museums of Maitland (A&H) in Maitland, Florida. The show features works developed during her 2024–25 Fulbright research in Istanbul and builds on ideas from her 2021–2023 Studio Artist Residency at A&H. Inspired by traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern textile practices, Martinez explores themes of urban life, surveillance, and cultural memory, using imagery from nighttime walks through Istanbul—fences, checkpoints, and barbed wire—combined with historic textile patterns. Her Cuban and Arab heritage and family’s experience of displacement inform her work, with weaving serving as a metaphor for endurance and resistance. The opening night is free to the public, with live music, food, and a cash bar.

Six artists reflect on the Azores in a new DATMA exhibition downtown

The Massachusetts Design Art Technology Institute (DATMA) is launching "The Same Sea," an exhibition featuring six artists from the South Coast region who participated in the inaugural Hotel Papel artist residency on Faial Island in the Azores.
