MCASD welcomes art exhibition from collection of Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) is hosting the West Coast debut of "Giants," a major exhibition featuring the personal art collection of musical icons Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz (Kasseem Dean). The show features works by nearly 40 Black American and diasporic artists, including monumental pieces by towering figures in the contemporary art world. To localize the presentation, the museum has collaborated with the Deans to launch a companion exhibition titled "Hometown Heroes," which spotlights San Diego-based artists.

Inside Overtown’s 'Everyday People,' the Soul Basel exhibit celebrating Black art and community

The 'Everyday People' exhibition, part of Miami's Soul Basel celebration, has opened in Overtown across three venues: the City of Miami Black Police Precinct Courthouse and Museum, the Overtown Performing Arts Center, and The OVRTWN Corner. Featuring over 80 artworks by Black artists from around the world, the exhibit is curated by Terrance Cribbs-Lorrant, executive director of the Black Police Precinct Museum, and Elijah Rashaed, a curator from the Dayton, Ohio NAACP. The show includes historic works from the Miami Black Art Workshop, a pioneering 1970s collective that helped ignite South Florida's Black visual arts movement, and will run through March 2026.

Black Excellence fills Columbus Arts Council with warmth, artistry and community

The Columbus Arts Council in Mississippi hosted the opening reception of its second Black Excellence Art Exhibition, featuring fiber artist Stephany Brown reading from 'Of Salt and Spirit: Black Quilters in the American South' and a poem by Alabama Poet Laureate Ashley M. Jones. The exhibition showcased a diverse range of works including Brittany Horne's luminous portrait of her daughter, Brown's hand-sewn quilts, Kenneth Smith's stained glass mosaics, and live music by vocalist-pianist Kyia King. Culinary arts students from East Mississippi Community College contributed food honoring Black chefs and agricultural scientists, creating a multisensory celebration of Black artistry and heritage.
