Re-opening of Sainsbury Wing at National Gallery

The Sainsbury Wing at the National Gallery in London has reopened after a three-year refurbishment, inaugurated by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The wing now serves as the main entrance, featuring large windows that flood the foyer with natural light, a high-tech screen showcasing masterpieces, and a rehang of the collection that groups early Renaissance and early Christian art together in rooms 51-66. Notable highlights include Sir Richard Long's 'Mud Sun', Paula Rego's 'Crivelli's Garden', a new unsigned Netherlandish altarpiece, and the temporary display of the Coronation portraits of the King and Queen until June 5th.

Maximilien Durand reconduit au Louvre

Maximilien Durand, aged 50, has been reappointed for a three-year term as head of the Department of Byzantine and Eastern Christian Arts at the Louvre Museum in Paris. He has been preparing the department's opening since 2022. Durand previously served as director of the Musée des Tissus in Lyon and deputy director of collections at Paris Musées. Faith Art Prize

Christian Art has launched the Faith Art Prize, a rebranded international award formerly known as the Laudamus Award, celebrating contemporary art that engages with faith, prayer, and the sacred. The prize offers a total fund of £30,000, including a £25,000 first prize donated by John J Studzinski CBE, and is open to artists worldwide working in any medium. Up to 100 shortlisted works will be exhibited at Westminster Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral Hall from 9–13 November 2026, with a People's Choice Award of £5,000 selected by public vote. The exhibition coincides with the Christian Art Conference 2026 at the QEII Centre, London.

SADA faculty members showcase art at museum

Liberty University's semi-annual Faculty Art Exhibition opened on September 4 and runs through October 13, 2025, at the Liberty University Art Museum in Green Hall. The show features a diverse range of work by faculty members of the Department of Studio & Digital Arts (SADA), including paintings, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, illustrative projects, video game renderings, and concept art created with design software. The gallery was donated by Barbara Engstrom in February 2022 to display faith-based art, and her personal collection is also on view. Chair Todd Smith oversees the museum and emphasized that the exhibition models professional practice for students.
