Visual historian and author Lucy Sante has opened two simultaneous exhibitions of her collage artwork in New York. The shows, at Karma gallery and the Center for Book Arts, feature work created from a vast personal archive of materials she has collected over decades, which she meticulously cuts and reassembles.
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice has opened "Peggy Guggenheim in London: The Making of a Collector," the first major museum exhibition focused on Guggenheim's brief but influential 18-month tenure as a gallerist in pre-war London. From January 1938 to June 1939, her gallery Guggenheim Jeune at 30 Cork Street mounted twenty exhibitions, including Vasily Kandinsky's first UK solo show, the first British group collage exhibition, and a controversial sculpture show debated in Parliament. Organized by Gražina Subelytė and guest curator Simon Grant, the show brings together approximately one hundred works—paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, puppets, and archival material—many reunited for the first time since their original presentation.
Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is hosting its 2nd annual summer group exhibition from July 1–31, 2025, featuring forty-two Northern Nevada artists. The show, titled "Myself/My Space: Collage Interpretations of Self-portraits & Environment," is presented by WEDGE OUTSIDE THE BOX in connection with Artown 2025. An opening reception will be held July 9 at TMCC’s Main Art Gallery in the V. James Eardley Student Center, Reno, NV. The exhibition explores identity and place through two- and three-dimensional mixed-media collage works.
The Beverly Arts Center in Chicago is hosting "RE-BOP! (Obstructions & Disruptions)," a group exhibition dedicated to the art of collage. Curated by Paloma Trecka and Todd Bartel, the show features nearly 60 artists from Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and across the U.S., including prominent local artist Tony Fitzpatrick, who originally conceived the exhibition. The works range from traditional cut-paper pieces to digital collages, with many exploring themes of improvisation, rhythm, and disruption. The exhibition was organized with help from the Beverly Arts Alliance and the participatory magazine Cut Me Up, which issued an open call that drew 150 submissions.
