Arlington museum to host Hollywood-themed show on author Jane Austen

The Arlington Museum of Art will open a new exhibition in January 2026 titled "Dressed for the Drawing Room: Fashion in Jane Austen’s World," celebrating the author's 250th birthday. The show features costumes and jewelry from the 2005 film adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice" and the 2020 film "Emma," loaned from NBCUniversal Archives & Collection, and is presented in partnership with the Jane Austen Society of North America - North Texas Chapter. The exhibition runs from January 9 to March 22, 2026, and is free to the public.

Denver has been announced as the exclusive US venue for 'DIVA,' a major fashion and iconography exhibition organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The show will run from October 4, 2026, to January 31, 2027, at the Denver Art Museum’s Hamilton Building, featuring over 200 objects and more than 50 costumes worn by legendary performers including Maria Callas, Cher, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, RuPaul, Prince, Tina Turner, and Marilyn Monroe.

The Met’s much-anticipated spring 2026 exhibit puts fashion on a fine art level

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute will open its spring 2026 exhibition, "Costume Art," on May 10, 2026, running through January 10, 2027. The show features nearly 400 objects from the Met's collection, pairing couture garments with paintings, sculptures, and decorative works across centuries. Organized by "body types" such as "Classical Body" and "Mortal Body," the exhibition will be housed in the new 12,000-square-foot Condé Nast Galleries. The Met Gala, co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, will kick off the exhibition with a dress code of "Fashion is Art."

Diego Montoya's drag designs are art, and a major museum finally agrees

Diego Montoya, a fashion and costume designer known for his work on RuPaul's Drag Race and HBO's We're Here, has opened a solo exhibition titled 'Resplendent Dreams: Reawakening the Rococo' at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields. The show, running from June 6, 2025 to March 29, 2026, features costumes created for drag queens including Sasha Velour, Blair St. Clair, Kandy Muse, Jimbo, and Miz Cracker, as well as a new commission 'Rocaille' made for the museum. Montoya worked with exhibition designer Mandie Holden to present the costumes on custom mannequins that evoke drag silhouettes rather than standard fashion displays.
