In Kelantan, 'After Monsoon: Tera-Kota' project connects art with local community

The National Art Gallery of Malaysia, in collaboration with Art Matters Trading, launched the 'After Monsoon Project: Tera-Kota' exhibition series from October 24–30 at Pantai Pulau Kundur in Kota Baru, Kelantan. Themed 'Tanah, Tubuh, Tapak' (Land, Body, Site), the site-specific event featured clay sculptures, a community art feast (bekwoh), cultural performances, and a traditional ceramic firing facility (gok), engaging local residents—nearly 90% of whom practice traditional crafts like batik, pottery, and weaving—alongside students from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2025: honouring strength, vision and legacy

The City of Perth (Boorloo) is celebrating NAIDOC Week 2025 from 6 to 13 July, marking 50 years of honoring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, culture, and resilience. The 2025 theme, 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,' is highlighted through a NAIDOC Week Exhibition at Council House Foyer (7 July–15 August), featuring works from emerging and established artists, supported by Mossenson Galleries and the Janet Holmes à Court Collection. Events include an Artist in Conversation with Tyrown Waigana on 9 July, the National NAIDOC Awards Ceremony on 5 July, and cultural performances by Wadumbah. Other city-wide events include the Goologoolup NAIDOC Screenings and the Wangening Bardip – Healing Stories Through First Nations Art exhibition.

Bridges of Belonging: Cinco de Mayo Art Reception

A free reception for the exhibition “Bridges of Belonging: Cinco de Mayo, Bi-National Identity, and the Spirit of Chignahuapan” will be held on May 1 at the Clark County Government Center Rotunda Gallery in Las Vegas. The event, themed “Puentes de Pertenencia,” features live music, cultural performances, visual arts, and food, with the exhibit on display through May 28.

More Than 100 Artworks On Display At Merdeka Art Exhibition

More than 100 local painters, including artists with disabilities, are displaying their works at the Merdeka Art Exhibition 2025, held at Prince Court Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Organized by Art Market Malaysia with the hospital's support, the exhibition features over 100 artworks themed 'Freedom to Heal: Merdeka Through Wellness,' alongside cultural performances, poetry recitals, and an art competition. Deputy National Unity Minister K. Saraswathy opened the event, which runs until September 12. Thirty percent of proceeds from artwork sales will go to the Disabled Persons Rehabilitation Centre.

Popular art exhibition back for NAIDOC Week

The City of Gosnells in Western Australia is hosting a week-long NAIDOC Week celebration starting July 7, featuring a flag-raising ceremony, cultural performances, bush tucker walks, and storytelling. A key event is the return of the popular NAIDOC Week Art Exhibition, running from July 8 to July 18 at the Civic Centre, showcasing works by local emerging and seasoned Aboriginal artists, with pieces available for purchase.
