University of Rhode Island professor and artist Hongbing Tang is presenting her solo exhibition, 'Spirit of the Place and People,' at URI's Green Hall. The show features her watercolor paintings, which explore themes of memory, cultural heritage, and the layered histories of specific locations, and will be on view through April 30.
The Allegheny Art Galleries opened a faculty art exhibition featuring works from three art department professors. Associate Professor Heather Brand presented three photographic series, including "Under Glass, Over Time," "Recursive Light," and "After Utopia," exploring themes of scale and contained worlds. Southern Oregon University's Schneider Museum of Art is opening its first exhibition of 2026, titled "The Pursuit of Happiness," featuring works by fifteen SOU creative arts staff and educators. The show, running from January 29 to March 14, explores themes of American identity and happiness in the context of the nation's 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. It includes nearly 50 works, notably a large hand-dyed quilt tapestry by educator Vanessa Jo Bahr, and marks the museum's first faculty and staff exhibition since 2019.
Madison College's Continuing Education program is hosting its annual Student and Faculty Art Show from August 18 to September 12 at the Truax Art Gallery on the Truax campus. The exhibition features work by over 50 artists, including ceramics, drawings, paintings, sculpture, and mixed media. A free opening reception will take place on August 16 from 4-6 p.m., offering a live art demonstration, refreshments, and wine tasting, with summer gallery hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
