Gary E. Harris Exhibition To Open At Pittsford Fine Art

Pittsford Fine Art will host a solo exhibition of oil paintings by Western New York artist Gary E. Harris from May 1 through May 31, 2026. The showcase features landscapes inspired by Cape Cod and Western New York, alongside still life works that emphasize light, atmosphere, and open composition. Harris, a former creative director who transitioned to full-time painting, draws significant influence from 19th-century French Impressionism.

A recently rediscovered landscape painting by Claude Monet, titled "Vétheuil, effet du matin" (1901), sold for €10.2 million at a Sotheby’s auction in France. The sale exceeded its initial estimate of €6 million to €8 million and set a new record for a Monet work sold at auction within France. A second work, "Les îles de Port-Villez" (1883), also outperformed expectations, fetching €6.45 million during the same event.

DA2 Domus Artium in Salamanca has opened the first Spanish retrospective of Gabriela Bettini, titled "Cierta tarde, la más bella de las tardes de mi vida." The exhibition surveys the Spanish-Argentine artist's career, centering on themes of memory, exile, and the trauma of the Argentine military dictatorship. A focal point is the work "Memoria del agua," inspired by an unfinished poem found in a book belonging to her grandfather, who was disappeared during the regime.
