The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston announced layoffs affecting approximately 30 staff members, a 6.3% reduction of its workforce, effective this Friday. The decision was communicated via an internal email obtained by WBUR, citing an unsustainable deficit and the need for financial restructuring. The MFA, Boston Union, which represents 16 of the affected employees, expressed concern and called for negotiations to avert layoffs and preserve workforce diversity. This follows a previous round of layoffs and early retirements in 2020.
