Lake Flato Shapes a Stunning New Art Space in Texas Hill Country

A new art space called Arthouse is opening on April 25, 2026, in Marble Falls, Texas. Designed by the architecture firm Lake Flato, the 2,000-square-foot white building will display works from the personal collection of philanthropists Mickey and Jeanne Klein, including pieces by Mary C. Sloane, Kenturah Davis, Faith Ringgold, Ed Ruscha, James Turrell, and Teresita Fernández. The debut exhibition, "Words Matter," curated by Mickey Klein, explores text and narrative and coincides with the town's Paint the Town Art Festival. The building also features a courtyard designed by landscape designer Sada Uchiyama.

New space dedicated to Oleg Prokofiev—whose abstract art was censored by Soviet Russia—opens in London

A new art space called Prokofiev Studio has opened in Hackney, London, dedicated to the Russian artist Oleg Prokofiev. Its inaugural exhibition, 'Bending Time,' presents abstract works from the 1950s that were banned under Soviet censorship and long thought lost. The space was founded by Prokofiev’s children, including composer Gabriel Prokofiev, in collaboration with curator Anzhela Popova. The works were rediscovered in 1994 when Prokofiev returned to his former Moscow home and found them preserved by the new owner.

Public Images Gallery opens on Route 66

Public Images Gallery, a new art space owned by Larry White, opens on Route 66 in Tulsa at 1507 E. 11th Street, next to Ike’s Chili. Its inaugural exhibition, “Roots, Rock, and Rebels ... The Photography of Henry Diltz,” features the work of renowned rock photographer Henry Diltz. An abridged version of this show was previously held at the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa in 2019 but was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The grand opening takes place on May 1 from 4 to 10 p.m., with Diltz appearing in person during First Friday festivities.
