Plains Art Exhibition Highlights Women Artists, Addresses Imbalance

Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota, is launching a major exhibition titled “Women Artists: Four Centuries of Creativity,” running from November 1, 2025, to March 1, 2026. ​Big visions for the Plains Art Museum: renovation, expansion and opportunities abound

The Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota, is preparing to break ground on a major renovation and expansion of its permanent collection facility, working with architecture firms Olson Kundig and JLG. The project will create an open storage concept design, adding a fourth gallery and allowing public access to the museum's basement collection storage, where over 6,000 artworks are housed. This follows the museum's history of adaptive reuse, having transformed a 1904 International Harvester warehouse into its main building in 1997 and adding the Katherine Kilbourne Burgum Center for Creativity in 2012.

Two winter art exhibits opening soon on Fergus Falls campus

M State Fergus Falls will host two winter art exhibits featuring three regional artists. Emily Williams-Wheeler's painting collection “The Process of Satiation” runs from January 14 to March 20 in the Charles Beck Gallery, while sisters Cathrin and Laura Von Bank present “The Eclectic Collection” of linocut prints, portraiture, fiber art, and mixed media in the Waage Gallery from January 21 to May 16. A joint reception with all three artists is scheduled for February 12.
