Artists Welcome: CMA announces new juried ‘Lake Effect’ exhibition at Transformer Station

The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) has announced an open call for submissions to "Lake Effect: Artists from Cleveland Now," a juried group exhibition celebrating the museum's 110th anniversary. The show will run from July 9 to November 22, 2026, at Transformer Station, the museum's Ohio City outpost in Hingetown. Open to artists living or working in Northeast Ohio, the exhibition welcomes all media and will be selected by a curatorial jury of CMA professionals. Three participating artists will receive $1,000 micro-grants.

81st annual May Show celebrates Ohio Artists at Mansfield Art Center

The Mansfield Art Center in Ohio is hosting the 81st Annual May Show, running from April 26 through May 31 in the Elizabeth T. Black and Foundation Galleries. The exhibition features contemporary works in all mediums by artists from across Ohio, selected from nearly 600 submissions by guest juror Wendy Earle, Curator at the Akron Art Museum. An opening reception with awards will be held on April 26, supported by sponsors including Taylor Metal Products, Mechanics Bank, Ohio Arts Council, Park National Bank, and Avita.

NMAT students, faculty, represent campus in Richmond exhibition

Indiana University Kokomo faculty, students, and alumni were well represented at the 127th Annual Exhibition by Indiana and Ohio Artists at the Richmond Art Museum. Minda Douglas, associate professor of fine art, won the Kevin McCurdy and Lisa Caiazzo Purchase Award for her print “Monarch Watch.” Anna Marcum, a recent BFA graduate, received the Johnson Family Merit Award for her self-portrait and had another painting selected. Aaron Pickens, associate professor of fine art and new media, had two oil paintings juried into the show, and junior Zoe Callender had her painting “Market Fish” selected. The exhibition runs through January 10, 2026.

Beck Center for the Arts highlights local artists with Art Treasures 2025

Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood, Ohio, is hosting Art Treasures 2025, an annual holiday exhibition and pop-up shop featuring handmade goods by local Northeast Ohio artists. Ohio artists capture the rhythms of life in two solo exhibitions

Two solo exhibitions by Ohio painters Said Oladejo-Lawal and Linda Hutchinson are on view at the McConnell Arts Center in Worthington through August 28. Oladejo-Lawal's 'My Voice and Dance' features vibrant, swirling portraits of musicians and dancers inspired by his Nigerian childhood and love of classical music and jazz. Hutchinson's 'In Good Company' presents figurative paintings of people in everyday life, with a focus on musicians and visual rhythm. The exhibitions were curated by Michelle Tavenner and Lindsay Lisanti.

Orange Art Center to present first Emerging Artist Residency exhibition this summer

The Orange Art Center in Pepper Pike, Ohio, will present its first Emerging Artist Residency exhibition this summer, featuring multi-media artist Lauren Sylvia. Her show, “The Many Hues Between Brown and Blue,” explores themes of love, loss, and remembrance inspired by her late cat Twila, using watercolor, acrylic, and experimental materials. The exhibition opens during the Orange Community Art Fest on August 16 and runs through September 30.
