Ferris State alumni, faculty, and students recognized among leading regional artists in 2025 West Michigan Area Show

Ferris State University's Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD) alumni, faculty, and students have been recognized in the 2025 West Michigan Area Show, a juried exhibition hosted by the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. The 64th annual competition drew nearly 500 entries from 14 Michigan counties, with 64 selected for inclusion. Eleven pieces by artists with KCAD connections were featured, and three received distinguished awards from juror Hubert Massey, a Detroit-based artist and educator. Notable winners include Lee Ann Frame, who won the Ward H. and Cora E. Nay Director’s Purchase Prize and the Southwest Michigan Printmakers Excellence in Printmaking Award, and Tatsuki Hakoyama, who received The Martin Maddox Prize for Imaginative Realism. Other participants include professor emeritus Jay Constantine, alumni Beth Purdy and Jackson Wrede, and students Sydney Donath and Kaylee Dirkmaat.

Ormond Memorial Art Museum hosts 'Tradewinds' Seabreeze art show

Ormond Memorial Art Museum is hosting the 2026 'Tradewinds' art show, featuring 138 artworks by Seabreeze High School students. The juried exhibition includes 2D and 3D pieces created in media such as acrylic, ceramic, clay, colored pencil, and glass, with awards distributed at a May 7 reception. The show runs through May 24 and was judged by museum guest curator Ruth Grim.

Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens reflects vibrant arts district

The Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens in Ormond Beach, Florida, recently completed a 16-month renovation that added expanded classroom, exhibition, and meeting spaces, as well as a new rooftop terrace overlooking its 2.5-acre gardens. The museum, founded in 1946, features rotating and permanent collections including works by Malcolm Fraser and John Wilton, along with educational programs for all ages, outreach for students and military personnel, and a garden with native and exotic plants, a turtle sanctuary, and military tributes. Upcoming exhibits include a pop-up by Carson Kapp, the International Society of Experimental Artists' 'Innovations 2025,' and a 1940s-themed show organized by the OMAM Guild.

Seabreeze artists shine in OMAM’s Tradewinds exhibit

More than 100 works of art by Seabreeze High School students are on display at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum (OMAM) in Ormond Beach, Florida, for the annual 'Tradewinds' juried exhibit, running through May 24. The show features 2D and 3D art, including ceramics, jewelry, and mosaics, and is judged by OMAM's Guest Curator Ruth Grim, who holds a Master of Arts from the New York University Institute of Fine Arts.
