Savannah African Art Museum Celebrates Ribbon Cutting And Opening Of Two New Exhibitions

The Savannah African Art Museum will host a ribbon cutting and gallery opening on April 30th, unveiling two new exhibitions: The Liren Wei Collection, a permanent gallery of works from West and Central Africa, and “Roots and Rituals: Agriculture and Spirituality in the West African Interior,” which explores farming and spirituality in Mali and Burkina Faso. The free public event runs from 5:30 PM to 8 PM, with the ribbon cutting at 6:00 PM.

Union Public Library & Arts Center hosts a grand opening

The Union Public Library & Arts Center in Union, New Jersey, held a grand opening celebration for its newly renovated three-level facility. The Trout Museum of Art in Appleton, Wisconsin, opened a retrospective exhibition and named a lecture hall in honor of Li Hu, the late UW-Oshkosh emeritus art professor. The event, titled "A Tribute to Li Hu: Celebrating a Visionary Legacy," included a ribbon cutting for the Li Hu Lecture Hall, a panel discussion featuring former students and colleagues, and an exhibition of Hu's sculptural and painted works spanning his career. Hu, who died in 2016, was born in Shanghai, survived the Cultural Revolution, earned a degree from Shanghai University Fine Arts College, and moved to the U.S. in the early 1990s before teaching at UW-Oshkosh for nearly two decades. The exhibition is on view through January 4, 2026.

Grand opening set for new art gallery in historic Porter Produce warehouse

The historic Porter Produce warehouse in Fayetteville, Arkansas, built in 1906, has been transformed into a public art gallery called the Alexander Gallery at the Porter Art Warehouse. A grand opening celebration is set for October 29, featuring a ribbon cutting, the inaugural exhibition "Our Art, Our Region, Our Time," live music, and screen printing. The project was a collaboration between the city, Walton Arts Center, and the University of Arkansas, with a $1 million exterior restoration and a $950,000 interior renovation by Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects and Sargent Contracting. The gallery is named for Bob and Becky Alexander, whose foundation supported the project.
