Boston College Arts Festival To Feature Nunziata Brothers As Alumni Artist Awardees

Miller Art Museum Announces Student Award-Winners

The Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, announced the award winners of the 52nd-annual Salon of Door County High School Art at a free public reception on April 6. The exhibition features original artwork by 105 students from five local high schools—Gibraltar, Sevastopol, Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay, and Washington Island. Awards of Excellence were given to Abigail DeMeuse, Lilian Saltou, Audrie Schley, Rowan Ploor, and Thomas Pratt, while honorable mentions went to Molly Virlee, Lola Georgenson, Angelina LeCloux Herrera, Ryan Felhofer, and Teagan McGrane. Gianna Roman of Sevastopol won the fourth-annual Jim Rericha Legacy Award, named after a longtime art teacher, which included a $100 cash prize. The museum also announced a Potter’s Panel on May 9 featuring master potters discussing the legacy of Abraham Cohn, and the return of its Art and Treasures fundraiser starting May 30.

State Art Museum upcoming exhibits include collaborations with Hawaiʻi Walls and the Maui Arts and Cultural Center

The Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts has announced a calendar of upcoming exhibits at Capitol Modern: the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum, spanning 2025 and 2026. Highlights include collaborations with World Wide Walls featuring a solo show by Shar Tuiʻaso (also known as Punky Aloha) titled “Local” and a group show “The Earth Laughs in Flowers,” as well as a mini-exhibit on traditional printmaking called “Technique and Texture.” In 2026, the museum will host the traveling Schaefer Portrait Challenge from the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, a triennial exhibition showcasing portraiture from across the islands, along with the “Trifecta” exhibit of works from the SFCA Art in Public Places Collection and the annual Hawaiʻi Regional Scholastic Student Art Awards.

Forbidden skate ramp sculpture wins Community Art Exhibition

Harry Young's sculpture "Forbidden Skate Ramp," a miniature concrete replica of the Telstra building in Perth's CBD, won the top prize at the City of Joondalup Community Art Exhibition. The work was praised for its clever play on scale and connection to local folklore about the building's roof resembling a skate ramp. Young received $4,000 for the award. Other winners include Soyang Lee (highly commended for "My Garden"), Fred Maris (Celebrating Joondalup award for "Burns Beach"), and Pippa Rivett (student award for "Emerging"). The exhibition features over 150 artworks at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City through June 28.
