Grayson Perry’s life story to be told in ‘outrageous’ musical

Grayson Perry’s life story is being adapted into a stage musical titled *Grayson the Musical*, co-created with Richard Thomas, composer of *Jerry Springer: The Opera*. The show follows Perry from his childhood in Chelmsford to his rise as a Turner Prize-winning ceramicist and tapestry-maker, featuring his iconic dresses and his teddy bear Alan Measles. Perry wrote the lyrics, with a book by screenwriter Sara-Ella Ozbek and direction by Sean Foley. A workshop production will run for five performances in July at Soho Theatre Walthamstow, the east London borough where Perry once kept a studio and which inspired his famous work *The Walthamstow Tapestry*.

Martin Parr steps out from behind the camera lens in informal autobiography

Martin Parr, the renowned British documentary photographer, has released an informal autobiography titled "Utterly Lazy and Inattentive: Martin Parr in Words and Pictures," written with author Wendy Jones. The book traces his career from early black-and-white work inspired by Garry Winogrand and Tony Ray-Jones to his signature vivid color series like "The Last Resort" (1983-85) and "Small World" (1987-94), which drew controversy for their satirical take on British leisure and global tourism. Parr, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, continues to be active, with his photographs of Bristol Pride currently on display at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery through March 2026.

Art exhibition at P.E.I. Farm Centre features work of Wendy Jones

The P.E.I. Farm Centre in Charlottetown is hosting an exhibition titled "Chaos Corralled: Art Harvested from the Heart of Havoc" by Belle River artist Wendy Jones, running from May 20 to June 30. The show features paintings and photographs, with an opening reception on May 20 where Jones will demonstrate fluid art techniques and offer visitors a chance to create their own miniature pour paintings.

These exhibits spotlight 600 female artists in DC area

Curator and blogger Florencio “Lenny” Campello has organized a series of 18 exhibits featuring 600 female artists from the Washington, D.C. region under the project Women Artists of the DMV. The main exhibition is at American University’s Katzen Arts Center, displaying 63 pieces, with additional shows at venues like Strathmore Galleries in Bethesda and Montpelier Arts Center in Laurel. Campello hand-selected each work, receiving nearly 4,000 inquiries from local artists, and structures the shows in a three-tier pyramid from well-known to emerging artists.
