The New Taipei City Art Museum has opened with a mission to reshape the narrative of Taiwan's contemporary art. The institution aims to highlight local artists and movements that have been historically underrepresented in the global art discourse, offering a fresh perspective on the island's creative evolution.
Kevin Troyano Cuturi, raised on museum visits across Europe and trained in physics and finance, founded Cuturi Gallery in Singapore after co-founding Mazel Gallery in 2017. The gallery now operates a Paris outpost in the former Didier Ludot boutique and runs a discoveries platform for emerging artists, a residency program hosting over 20 artists, and has nurtured Singaporean talents like Aisha Rosli and Faris Heizer.
Hong Kong’s Kwai Fung Hin gallery has expanded internationally for the first time, opening a new outpost at 30 Beach Road in Singapore. Founded by former banker Catherine Kwai in 1991, the gallery specializes in 20th-century modern and contemporary art with a focus on cultural heritage. The new space launched with an exhibition titled “Worlds beyond Reality – Monet’s Legacy II,” featuring a masterpiece by Claude Monet alongside works by Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh-Chun.
Renowned contemporary artist Rirkrit Tiravanija has launched his largest solo exhibition in Singapore at STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery. Titled "Say Yes To Everything," the retrospective spans over a decade of the artist's practice, featuring prints, editioned works, and interactive installations that emphasize communal experiences. The show includes signature elements of Tiravanija’s relational aesthetics, such as communal meals, origami sessions, and works that utilize UV light to reveal extinct animals, highlighting themes of migration, ecology, and social interaction.
Singapore Art Week 2026 transforms the Lion City into a stage for contemporary creativity, featuring a packed programme of exhibitions, auctions, and symposia from January through March. Key events include Sotheby’s Modern and Contemporary Art auction (21–24 January) spotlighting works by Walter Spies, Raden Saleh, David Hockney, and Takashi Murakami; the Tanoto Art Foundation’s first exhibition 'Rituals of Perception' at New Bahru School Hall (21 January–1 March); the inaugural Print Show & Symposium at STPI (22–31 January) with artists like Yayoi Kusama and Jeff Koons; and Loy Contemporary Art Gallery’s 'Mosaic SG' showcasing contemporary Italian artists under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Singapore.
Singapore entrepreneur Chong Huai Seng and his daughter Ning Chong are presenting "Artist's Proof: Singapore at 60," a landmark exhibition at Artspace @ Helutrans running until 17 August 2025. Featuring over 90 artworks from Chong's private collection, the show spans 1940 to 2025 and includes more than 50 artists, mostly Singaporeans, such as Cultural Medallion recipients Cheong Soo Pieng, Chua Mia Tee, and Lee Wen, alongside emerging talents. For the first time, Chong commissioned 11 new artworks and an original musical composition for the exhibition, which he describes as his "love letter to Singapore."
