A Decade of Contemporary Art: Gallery Weekend Beijing Turns 10

Gallery Weekend Beijing (GWBJ) will celebrate its 10th anniversary with the 2026 edition running from May 22 to May 31, opening with three VIP days before going public on May 26. Founded in 2017, the event features curated exhibitions from 30 galleries and 10 non-profit institutions across Beijing, anchored in the 798 Art District and extending to Caochangdi and the CBD Art District. A new Academic Committee—comprising Guo Xi, Leng Lin, Tian Yuan, Xi Tao, and Yang Beichen—selected the participating galleries, with 25 returning from previous editions and five newly nominated. Highlights include institutional presentations at UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, Red Brick Art Museum, and SONG Art Museum, as well as a special exhibition titled "Nirvana" by Ouyang Chun.

National Museum of Asian Art Presents Paintings From India’s Himalayan Kingdoms in New Exhibition

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, DC, has announced a new exhibition titled “Of the Hills: Pahari Paintings from India’s Himalayan Kingdoms,” running from April 18 to July 26, 2026. The show features 48 paintings and colored drawings, including canonical masterpieces and never-before-seen works, drawn largely from the museum’s 2017–2018 acquisitions of the Ralph Benkaim and Catherine Glynn Benkaim collection. The exhibition explores three key periods from 1620 to 1830, highlighting the collaborative creativity of artists in the small Hindu kingdoms of the Himalayan region.

Hyderabad to Host Landmark Printmaking Exhibition ‘Edition 2’ at State Gallery of Art

Hyderabad will host 'Edition 2', a landmark printmaking exhibition at the Chitramayee State Gallery of Art from September 19 to 28. Curated by Annapurna M. and Attri Chetan, the show features 30 artists from 14 states, tracing printmaking's history from the Indus Valley and 16th-century India to contemporary reinventions. Chief Guest Shilpa Reddy and Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art, will inaugurate the event, which also launches a public printmaking studio and offers artist-led workshops and a mini print portfolio initiative.
