Summer Art Show offers vibrant showcase of Gibraltar’s creative talent

The Summer Art Show at the Fine Arts Gallery in Casemates, Gibraltar, opened last week by Minister for Culture Christian Santos, features a diverse collection of works by local artists. Running until June 5, the exhibition includes landscape paintings, portraits, still life, photography, sculpture, and textiles, showcasing artists such as Batsheba Peralta, Ambrose Avellano, Rose Ann Victor, Steven Hermida, Shane Dalmedo, Zoe Radley, and Natalia Dalmedo. Highlights include Hermida's portrait of an Indian tribe member previously shown in London, Dalmedo's narrative painting 'Please after you! No, please after you!', and Radley's ceramic lamp collection inspired by nature.

Ullger reflects on ‘quite special’ Berlin exhibition with Cane-Yo collective

Artist Karl Ullger recently participated in the group exhibition "Running with Scissors" at Anders Galerie in Berlin, organized by the global artist collective Cane-Yo. The show featured over 40 artists, including five invited Berlin artists, and displayed some 200 artworks. Ullger described the experience as "quite special," highlighting the energy of the packed opening and the direct engagement with visitors. He noted standout works by Austrian artist Theo Ritzinger, Chilean artist Diego Palacios, and Italian artist Yasmine Elgamal, as well as the opportunity to reconnect with fellow artists Alf Sims, Alex May, Shanice Farrugia, and Nicole Debono.

High-quality youth artwork shines at Sovereign Young Artist Competition exhibition

The Sovereign Art Foundation and Gibraltar Cultural Services announced the winners of the 2026 Sovereign Young Artist Competition at an awards ceremony on April 16. The exhibition showcases finalists in two age categories, with winners including Aimee Linares (SAF Judges’ Prize), Amelie Romero (SAF Public Vote Prize), Sebastian Andlaw (Alwani Foundation Award), Shelli Abudarham (Ministry of Culture Award), and Tyrone Vera (AquaGib Second Prize). The top student winner received £800, with £2,000 awarded to their school's art department.

Karl Ullger in Berlin exhibition with artist collective Cane-Yo

Artist Karl Ullger is participating in a group exhibition titled 'Running with Scissors' at Anders Galerie in Berlin. Maxwell’s Southport Gates painting named overall winner of National Day art exhibition

Thomas Oliver Maxwell won the Ministry of Culture Award and the overall prize of £1,500 in Gibraltar's 'Our Gibraltar' art competition for his painting of Southport Gates. The annual National Day Art Exhibition, featuring 64 entries from 42 local artists across painting, sculpture, and photography categories, opened at the Fine Arts Gallery in Casemates with Deputy Mayor Nicky Guerrero and Governor Lieutenant General Sir Ben Bathurst in attendance. Nataly Zelak-Victor won first prize in painting for 'Parson’s Lodge Battery,' while Prem Mahtani took first prize in photography for a photograph of Parson’s Lodge. Judges Douglas Morello, Gabriella Martinez, and Stefano Blanca Sciacaluga evaluated the works, noting the variety of media and locally themed subjects.
