An exhibition of an artist who brought post-impressionism to England

The Museum of Somerset is hosting "A Life in Art: Roger Fry," an exhibition dedicated to the painter, critic, and curator Roger Fry, who introduced post-impressionism to England. The show features nearly 40 of Fry's paintings from a recent Charleston exhibition, alongside works by his wife, Arts & Crafts artist Helen Coombe, whose career and life have been largely overlooked. Through artwork, archival photos, and a film, the exhibition explores Fry's complex personal life, including Coombe's institutionalization for mental illness, and his role within the Bloomsbury Group.

A unique breast cancer charity raising money through art

Belinda Gray, founder of breast cancer charity Art For Cure, shares her story ahead of the charity's latest exhibition at Wyken Vineyards. After her own breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, Gray launched Art For Cure in 2014, initially hosting an exhibition in her home and garden that drew 2,000 visitors and raised £100,000. The charity has since sold over £3 million worth of art through exhibitions and online sales, with a percentage of each sale donated by artists to fund UK breast cancer research and support services. Gray, who had no prior art-world experience, now leads a voluntary team of 10 people staging annual public exhibitions at unique venues.

Art exhibition showcasing Hampshire countryside opens this May

CPRE Hampshire is launching a special art exhibition this May at the Amanda Aldous Fine Art Gallery in Winchester to commemorate the organization’s 100th anniversary. Bolton artists invited to show their work at Bolton Museum

Bolton Museum is inviting local artists to submit their work for the Open Art Exhibition, with submissions due on January 29, 2026, at Bolton Library. Three prizes are on offer: the Young Artist award (ages 16–25, sponsored by Bolton at Home), the Visitors’ Choice award (sponsored by Bromley Art Supplies), and the Winners Prize (sponsored by the Library and Museum service). Art exhibition weekend raises more than £25,000

Three Suffolk women—journalists Mai Noman and Nicola Gooch, and curator Mary George—organized a weekend art exhibition titled 'From Suffolk to Gaza with Love' at Noman Studio in Monks Eleigh, raising over £25,000 for the UK charity Medical Aid for Palestinians. Festival Fever in Wells this autumn

Tribute exhibition celebrates ‘extraordinary’ Devon artist

A tribute exhibition titled "Jennifer Johnson: Atmosphere, Colour and Light" will be held at The Loft Studio, Salcombe Art Club, from May 24 to June 7, 2025, celebrating the life and work of Devon-based artist Jennifer Johnson, who died last year after a long battle with cancer. The exhibition, organized by her son Christopher Derrick, will showcase her extensive body of work—including watercolours, oils, drawings, collages, and digital art—and will raise funds for St. Luke’s Hospice, which cared for her in her final days.

Aaward-winning art retailer celebrates two decades of fine art

Hepplestone Fine Art, an award-winning art retailer in Lancashire, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Founded by Clive and his son Giles, both avid art collectors, the gallery opened in 2004 in a small space at the Carrington Centre in Eccleston. In 2010, it relocated to a purpose-built gallery at Heskin Hall Shopping Village, which allowed for expanded exhibitions and evening events. The gallery gained national recognition by winning Art Retailer of the Year from the Fine Art Trade Guild in 2016 and 2018. In 2024, it opened a second location in Wilmslow, Cheshire. A highlight was hosting the first UK gallery appearance by American artist Todd White, who continues to exhibit with them every two years. The gallery now represents emerging talents like Stockport's Lucy Manfredi and remains focused on bringing fine art to collectors both in-person and online.
