New art exhibition celebrating identity opens at museum

Artists call-out for 2026 Open Exhibition submissions

The Ferens Art Gallery in Hull has issued an open call for artists across the UK to submit work for its 2026 Open Exhibition. The submission window runs from April 30 to May 21, 2025, with a panel of judges selecting works for display from October 2026 to January 2027. There is a fee per submission, with a concessionary rate for younger and disabled artists, and selected artists are eligible for cash prizes.

Open Exhibitions 2025 begin at Ferens Art Gallery

Two annual open exhibitions open this week at Ferens Art Gallery in Hull, UK. The main Open Exhibition features over 300 artworks by amateur and professional local artists across painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, textiles, and film, with some pieces for sale. Alongside it, the Young Artist Open Exhibition showcases 559 submissions from artists aged 15 and under, submitted by individuals, schools, and community groups. Both exhibitions run from October 10, 2025 to January 11, 2026, with a public programme including artist talks.

Submissions invited for the Young Artist Open exhibition

The Ferens Art Gallery in Hull is inviting submissions for its annual Young Artist Open exhibition, formerly known as the Junior Open. Open to individuals, schools, and community groups, the competition is for artists aged 15 and under, with artworks accepted until July 13. Prizes are awarded in three age categories, and selected works will be displayed in a gallery exhibition from October 10, 2025, to January 11, 2026.
