Community Celebrates Opening of New Whitsunday Art Gallery
More than 200 people gathered in Proserpine on Thursday evening to celebrate the official opening of the Creative Connections Whitsunday Community Gallery, a newly renovated space transformed from the former Visitor Information Centre. Mayor Ry Collins cut the ribbon, joined by Deputy Mayor John Finlay and councillors, while visitors explored exhibitions featuring 26 local artists and over 100 artworks, enjoyed live music from Helen Blackshaw, and participated in children's activities. The gallery also announced future developments, including a soundproofed verandah funded by the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal and a mural project supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund.
