Gallery Moab turns 12, still run by and for Moab's artists
Gallery Moab, an artist-run cooperative in Moab, Utah, celebrates its 12th anniversary. Founded in spring 2014 by a group of local artists who were initially offered free space to sell work during the offseason, the gallery now features 14 patron members and dozens of consignment artists. It operates on a cooperative model where patron members work shifts as cashiers, pay annual fees and monthly wall-space fees, and keep 75% of sales. The gallery showcases a wide range of media including paintings, pottery, jewelry, textiles, and wood carvings, with a strong emphasis on landscape-inspired works reflecting Moab's iconic red-rock formations and the Colorado River.
