Mon Vert Cafe in Woodstock, Vermont, is hosting The Art of Resistance Gallery, a community art exhibition organized by Woodstock Union High School sophomore Addison Blanchard. The gallery, which opened on May 15 and runs through June 15, features works from artists of all ages and backgrounds, stemming from Blanchard's independent study project on art and activism in the school's Community Connections classroom.
Billings Farm & Museum in Woodstock, Vermont, has opened a new season of its “Art on the Barns” exhibition featuring work by New Hampshire artist Gail Rickards. The outdoor installation transforms the museum’s historic barns and farm buildings into a large-scale contemporary art display, with agricultural-themed works adapted into painted cut aluminum and PVC foam. Featured pieces include “TROPHY ROOM,” “SILOS,” “ICEHOUSE,” and “QUILT BARN,” and additional paintings by Rickards are shown inside the Visitor Center. An artist reception is scheduled for May 28, 2025.
Collective-The Art of Craft in Woodstock, Vermont, will serve as an information hub during the Vermont Craft Council’s Spring Open Studio Weekend on May 23-24. The statewide event features 175 artists at 133 locations, offering studio tours and artist demonstrations. The gallery will host a special exhibition from the Vermont Glass Guild and a live painting demonstration by artist Katie Roberts.
The Hall Art Foundation is reopening its Vermont campus for the 2026 season with three major exhibitions running through November 29. The centerpiece, "A Farewell to the Western World," is a group show of roughly 70 works exploring global power shifts and political instability, featuring artists such as Ai Weiwei, Aleksandra Mir, and Philip Guston. Also on view are Christian Marclay's video installation "Made To Be Destroyed," which compiles film scenes of artworks being damaged or destroyed, and Piotr Uklański's photographic installation "The Nazis," examining how film and popular culture have shaped representations of the Third Reich. The campus, set on a former dairy farm in Reading, includes converted gallery buildings and outdoor sculptures by Olafur Eliasson, Antony Gormley, Richard Long, and Marc Quinn.
The Brandon Artists Guild in Vermont is hosting an opening reception on Friday, May 8 at 5 p.m. to unveil its spring gallery refresh at 7 Center St. The event introduces four new member artists: porcelain potter Aiden Rose Palmer from Williston, mixed-media and glass mosaic artist Lisa Steckler from Rutland, Margaret-Desiree Mug from Poultney, and fused glass tableware artist Susan Wacker-Donle from Pittsfield. The twice-yearly refresh rotates new collections from the cooperative's more than 35 regional artists, featuring painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
The Greater Rutland Central Supervisory Union recently launched its third annual student art celebration at the Vermont State University Castleton Bank Gallery. The exhibition showcases a diverse array of creative works—including paintings, charcoal drawings, pottery, and photography—produced by students ranging from pre-K through high school. The opening reception also integrated live musical performances by local students, creating a multi-disciplinary showcase of regional youth talent.
