Monet To Matisse: Defying Tradition At AGSA – The Classics Come To Adelaide In A Rare Artistic Experience

From July, the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA) will present "Monet To Matisse: Defying Tradition," an Australian exclusive exhibition featuring masterpieces by Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Edgar Degas, Berthe Morisot, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Pablo Picasso. The works are on loan from the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio, which is undergoing a major building project, making this rare tour possible. Many of the pieces have never been seen in Australia. The exhibition launches AGSA's new Winter Art Series, a four-year initiative (2026–2029) to bring major international exhibitions exclusively to Adelaide, accompanied by curated live music, talks, activity spaces, and late-night events.
