Exhibition to bring almost 70 years of Barbie history to Kelvingrove
Scotland’s first-ever Barbie exhibition opens at Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow this weekend, featuring over 250 objects including rare dolls, dreamhouses, and original outfits. Presented by Glasgow Life in partnership with the Design Museum, London, and Mattel Inc, the exhibition traces Barbie’s evolution from its 1959 debut to the present day, showcasing milestone dolls such as the original hand-painted Number 1 Barbie, Sunset Malibu Barbie, and Totally Hair Barbie, as well as inclusive dolls representing people with Down’s syndrome and wheelchair users. The show runs until October 18.
