Gallery showcases artists in their element

Qualia Contemporary Art in Palo Alto is currently hosting two concurrent exhibitions, "Emergence" and "Tidal Traces," featuring the work of Yulia Pinkusevich, Cathy Lu, and Stella Zhang. The shows explore the four classical elements—fire, earth, air, and water—through a diverse range of media including large-scale ceramic incense sculptures, paintings incorporating charcoal and ash, and mixed-media works inspired by oceanic tides.

New music and art series will rock the block in Redwood City

The Center for Creativity in Redwood City, California, is launching a new fall series called Art+Sound on Broadway, held on three Sunday afternoons in September and October 2025. The series combines live concerts by local musicians, a juried visual arts exhibition titled "Art of the Community: Redwood City 2025," and hands-on art-making activities led by local artists. Performers include Alex and Maya Valdivia, Melissa Modifer, Andy Z, The Corner Laughers, Ol' Blue Genes, and Redwood Souls, while artists such as Elizabeth Gomez, Gadget, and Corinne Feldman lead community workshops. The series is funded by a grant from the Redwood City Arts Commission and takes place on a pedestrian-only block of Broadway outside the historic Hotel Sequoia, where the Center for Creativity is temporarily housed until 2027.

Palo Alto gallery adds new artist to the fold whose layered pieces unite chaos and calm

Bryant Street Gallery in Palo Alto has added Louisiana-based painter Lynn Sanders to its roster, featuring her large-scale abstract works in a solo exhibition titled "Lessons in Patience," on view through August 30. Gallery owner Karen Imperial discovered Sanders while searching online for abstract contemporary art, bypassing traditional portfolio submissions. Sanders uses a layered process with acrylic paints, stains, and ink to create fluid, color-rich compositions that she describes as a diary of her life and emotions.
