The Oklahoma Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) are partnering for the third consecutive year to present the 2026 OVAC Members Show. The exhibition opens June 2 at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum in Oklahoma City, featuring 66 works by 59 artists from 22 towns and cities across the state. A free opening reception is scheduled for June 4, followed by an awards ceremony on July 11.
The Oklahoma Arts Council has received the largest gift in the history of the Oklahoma State Art Collection: ten works by influential Native artists from The Howard L. and Mary Ellen Meredith Collection, donated by America Meredith and Samonia Byford in honor of their parents. The donated works include pieces by Benjamin Harjo Jr., Norma Howard, Vanessa Paukeigope Jennings, Ruthe Blalock Jones, Shan Goshorn, Doc Tate Nevaquaya, Jane Osti, Juanita Pahdopony, Jeri Redcorn, and Dick West. The artworks are now on display in the Betty Price Gallery at the Oklahoma State Capitol, alongside two other recent acquisitions.
The Norman Firehouse Art Center in Norman, Oklahoma, will present "Sohail & Co.," a summer exhibition focused on figure drawing and sculpture, on view from May 13 to August 7, 2026. The show brings together artists connected to the University of Oklahoma School of Visual Arts, exploring how the human figure evolves from observation to finished form across drawing, ceramics, and sculpture. An opening reception on May 13 will also feature the unveiling of "Rooted," a new public sculpture by undergraduate student Isabella Clark, installed in the Firehouse park as part of the Lions Park Sculpture Garden initiative.
Artist Leticia R. Bajuyo presents "Signal Convergence," a large-scale installation at Oklahoma City University's Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery that transforms discarded CDs and DVDs into immersive sculptural works. The exhibition runs from May 15 through Sept. 18, featuring horn-like structures built from thousands of discs, and includes a special collaborative performance on Sept. 10 with OCU music theory professor Kate Sekula using a theremin to direct sound through the installation.
Rapper and entrepreneur Jonathan Williams Jr., known as Jabee, is presenting the third annual Fear of the Black Art Show on February 13 at the Plaza Wall Gallery in Oklahoma City. The event, organized under his initiative With Love OKC, will feature over 20 Black artists from across Oklahoma, showcasing diverse works without a strict theme, as part of Black History Month celebrations.
