Mind of the Masters, in collaboration with the West African Specialty Coffee Association (WASCA) and NK Art Space, is hosting an art exhibition titled “The Spirit of Coffee” at The Spotlight Hub in Victoria Island, Lagos, from November 29 to December 12, 2025. The exhibition features 20 artworks curated by Mind of the Masters and NK Art Space, created by artist Lenrie Preks, whose pieces such as “The Spirit of Coffee,” “Coffee Blitz,” and “Flavour of Coffee” explore coffee culture through themes of ritual, memory, and community. The event aims to celebrate and promote coffee culture in Nigeria.
The exhibition matters because it addresses a significant economic gap: despite Africa being the birthplace of coffee cultivation, Nigeria has not fully capitalized on the global coffee market, which is dominated by countries like Brazil and Uganda. By merging art with coffee culture, the organizers seek to raise awareness, highlight health benefits, and foster a sustainable coffee industry in Nigeria. This initiative bridges tradition and innovation, positioning African coffee on the world stage while using visual art as a catalyst for cultural and economic change.
