Beyond the Gallery Walls: Solo Studios 2025 Transforms the Riebeek Valley into a Living Canvas, South Africa

Solo Studios 2025 returns to South Africa's Riebeek Valley from 24–26 October, transforming the twin towns of Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West into a living canvas. Over sixty artists will participate in open studios, curated exhibitions, performances, and culinary events, with highlights including the LANDscape[s] exhibition at Die Kunshuis featuring works from the Modern Art Projects South Africa collection, a group show at the sustainable EcoPlace studio, and a female-artist exhibition titled 'Red Hot, Pink Spot' at Riebeek West's Church Hall. Talks, music, and a concert by World Café featuring violinist Veronica Bell round out the program.

Now in its ninth edition, Solo Studios has become one of South Africa's most distinctive art experiences, emphasizing direct engagement between artists and audiences beyond traditional gallery settings. The event matters because it fosters regional collaboration—bringing in artists from Porterville and Kommetjie—and highlights sustainable practices, as seen in EcoPlace's recycled-material architecture. It also supports the local art economy by connecting collectors and enthusiasts with working studios, reinforcing the Riebeek Valley's identity as a vibrant cultural destination.
