Fuse Box: Sarah Sze

The Denver Art Museum has acquired and is presenting "Sleepers," a new media installation by Sarah Sze, a renowned artist and 2003 MacArthur Fellow. The six-channel video installation projects moving images onto over 300 hand-torn paper screens suspended from strings, using footage shot on the artist's iPhone and stock libraries. This marks Sze's first work with recorded and edited sound, continuing her exploration of everyday objects and digital environments.

This acquisition matters because it brings a major contemporary artist's work into a public collection, highlighting the museum's commitment to new media art. Sze's installation, which blends physical and digital realms, reflects broader cultural conversations about our relationship with technology and the mundane, making it relevant for audiences engaging with contemporary life and art.
