Hawkesbury Regional Gallery is expanding its annual exhibition and art fair, Hawkesbury Now, to include a wider range of local artists. Starting June 15, the program will open via a new Expression of Interest (EOI) process, replacing the previous model that relied on art society membership. This change allows both affiliated and independent artists living in the Hawkesbury Local Government Area to apply for exhibition opportunities.
This expansion matters because it democratizes access to professional gallery exhibition space, enabling independent artists and those not part of established art societies to showcase their work. The shift follows community feedback and aligns with the Hawkesbury City Council Cultural Plan, reflecting a broader trend toward inclusivity in regional arts programming.
