‘Hodge Podge’ exhibition on display in Fredonia’s Marion Art Gallery

The Cathy and Jesse Marion Art Gallery at SUNY Fredonia is hosting 'Hodge Podge,' a spring senior exhibition featuring works by 18 art majors. The show, which opened with a reception on May 1 and runs through May 10, includes paintings, animated short films, animatics, character designs, mixed media sculpture, ceramic installations, and a puppet installation. Participating artists include Andrea Conner, Rylee Crandall, Sarah R. Crouse, Katherine David, Noah Freeland, Kaylee Gabalski, Mathew Guerrero, June Guzman, Avery Hill, Luke Johnson, Maya Kulick, Ella Maines, Sara Neumar, Jason Skiff, Gabrielle Slivinski, Anna Sweeney, Natalie Weber, and Angelo Zappie.

The exhibition matters because it showcases the culmination of undergraduate study for emerging visual artists, highlighting the diversity of media and approaches taught in SUNY Fredonia's Department of Visual Arts and New Media. By presenting a 'hodge podge' of styles—from traditional painting to animation and ceramics—the show reflects contemporary art education's emphasis on interdisciplinary practice and provides a public platform for students to launch their professional careers.
