New exhibitions at South Haven Center for the Arts to explore caregiving

The South Haven Center for the Arts will open two new exhibitions on June 20, centered on the theme of caregiving. The national juried exhibition "Care" features 26 artists from 12 states, selected from over 120 submissions, exploring love, sacrifice, identity, and support across life stages. A companion community project, "Window to Our World," presents over 30 works created over two years by care partners—caregivers and care recipients—from Berrien, Van Buren, and Cass counties in Southwest Michigan.

This pair of exhibitions matters because it brings visibility to the often-unseen experiences of caregivers through visual art, fostering community connection and dialogue. By combining a juried national show with a local participatory project, the Arts and Aging Partnership of Southwest Michigan and the South Haven Center for the Arts model how art can address social issues, build empathy, and celebrate the role of caregivers in society.
