Le Louvre choisit ses architectes pour sa nouvelle entrée
The French Ministry of Culture has selected a consortium led by Studios Architecture Paris and Selldorf Architects to lead the "Louvre – Nouvelle Renaissance" project. The team, which also includes landscape architects Base, will design a new entrance beneath the Perrault colonnade and develop exhibition spaces under the Cour carrée, intended to house the Mona Lisa. Annabelle Selldorf's New York firm recently renovated the Frick Collection, while Studios Architecture has worked on the Grand Palais and major corporate headquarters.
This decision marks a significant architectural and institutional milestone for the Louvre, the world's most visited museum. The new entrance and expanded galleries aim to improve visitor flow and showcase iconic works like the Mona Lisa in a dedicated space, reflecting ongoing efforts to modernize the museum's infrastructure and enhance the visitor experience. The project underscores the Louvre's commitment to adapting its historic site for contemporary needs.
