Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas, will celebrate the opening of its major expansion with a free community weekend on June 6 and 7, 2026. The 114,000-square-foot expansion, designed by Safdie Architects, increases the museum's footprint by 50% and adds new galleries, art studios, educational spaces, a café, and outdoor amenities. The weekend will feature live music, dance performances, interactive artmaking, and the debut of two exhibitions: 'Artland' by Do Ho Suh, an immersive clay-building experience, and 'Keith Haring in 3D,' the first exhibition focused on the artist's three-dimensional works. The event is presented in partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center.
This expansion marks a significant milestone for Crystal Bridges, dramatically broadening its capacity to serve both the local community and a national audience through enhanced spaces for gathering, exploration, and discovery. By offering free, family-friendly programming and spotlighting major exhibitions of internationally renowned artists like Do Ho Suh and Keith Haring, the museum reinforces its role as a leading cultural destination in the American South. The event underscores the growing trend of museums using free community celebrations to increase accessibility and engagement.
