Sashi’s Art Studio has organized its annual art exhibition and award ceremony in Kathmandu, running from May 29 to June 4 under the Shree Bidhya Dhis Rajbhandari Award program. The exhibition features works by school students, bachelor-level fine arts students, freelance artists, and adult learners, showcasing themes from cultural heritage to contemporary social issues. Nhuja Shrestha was named the recipient of this year’s Shree Bidhya Dhis Rajbhandari Award, which includes an opportunity to hold a solo exhibition in 2027.
The event matters because it provides a vital platform for emerging and established artists in Nepal to gain recognition and support, helping to strengthen the country’s artistic community. Chief guest Dr. Seema Sharma Shah highlighted that such awards encourage artistic growth and financial assistance, enabling artists to continue their practice and contribute to Nepali art. Previous honorees Sumitra Baral (2024) and Kabir Kayastha (2025) have gone on to pursue significant projects, underscoring the program’s role in fostering mentorship and public engagement in the arts.
