Eastend Arts Center has issued a call for submissions from Indigenous artists for its upcoming exhibition "Honoring Indigenous Art — Tribal Arts Exhibition," scheduled for fall 2026. The exhibition is organized in partnership with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) and will feature contemporary Indigenous art across various mediums. Artists are encouraged to submit works reflecting their identity, heritage, and lived experiences, with up to three pieces per artist accepted through August 31. Selected works will be displayed in the Larson Exhibition Room, and a public Artist Meet & Greet is planned for November 21.
This exhibition matters because it centers Indigenous voices and cultural narratives within a mainstream arts institution, fostering cross-cultural understanding and supporting the preservation of Native traditions. The partnership with NHBP ensures authentic representation and community engagement, while the open call to artists from all tribal nations promotes inclusivity. The exhibition is part of Eastend Arts Center's broader 2026 programming focused on diverse cultural storytelling, highlighting the growing institutional commitment to Indigenous art and collaboration.
