Lapu-Lapu City Art Gallery and Cultural Hub reopens

The Lapu-Lapu City Art Gallery and Cultural Hub in Barangay Gun-ob, Cebu, formally reopened on June 1, 2026, after renovations supported by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Central Visayas office. The gallery, which initially soft-opened in February 2025 after pandemic closure, now offers local artists a free venue for quarterly exhibits, weekly art markets, and workshops, with no commission taken from sales.

This reopening matters because it provides a dedicated cultural space for Lapu-Lapu City artists who previously had to exhibit in Cebu City, strengthening local creative communities and expanding cultural tourism beyond traditional attractions. The initiative, part of DOT's expanded cultural tourism program, highlights local heritage and aims to make the city a cultural destination while supporting artists financially through commission-free sales.
