Sony World Photography Awards 2027 Opens Global Call for Entries

The Sony World Photography Awards 2027 has opened its global call for entries, inviting photographers worldwide to submit work across four competition categories: Professional, Open, Student, and Youth. The competition is free to enter, accepts images captured on any camera or device, and offers cash prizes up to US$25,000 for the Photographer of the Year, along with Sony Digital Imaging equipment, international media exposure, and exhibition opportunities at venues such as Somerset House in London. Submission deadlines range from November 2026 to January 2027, depending on the category.

The awards, produced by Creo under the World Photography Organisation and running since 2007, are among the most prestigious international photography competitions, having attracted over 430,000 submissions from more than 200 countries in recent editions. This open call matters because it provides a major platform for both established and emerging photographers to gain global visibility, professional recognition, and career-advancing opportunities, reinforcing the role of photography as a vital component of the contemporary visual art world.
