Opening in June 2026, "The Living River" marks the first UK solo exhibition for Bordeaux-based Iranian artist Armineh Negahdari. Curated by Milika Muritu in collaboration with Anne-Sophie Dinant, the show highlights Negahdari’s intuitive drawing practice across mediums such as oil, graphite, and charcoal. Her work utilizes unconventional surfaces like bedsheets and cardboard to explore themes of ritual, bodily fragmentation, and the fluid boundaries between human, botanical, and animal forms.
Inspired by the poetry of Shams Langeroodi, the exhibition uses the metaphor of a river to represent a state of continual passage and resistance to fixed narratives. In addition to the gallery presentation, a special film program will be held at Cinéma Lumière in London. This screening, featuring works by legendary filmmakers such as Abbas Kiarostami and Agnès Varda, aims to trace the aesthetic and conceptual parallels between Negahdari’s drawing process and the language of cinema.
